How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?

1999 hyundai accent. 1.5 L. I realize its a big job no matter what. Im wondering how bad? Like do you deep to pull the motor? Or perhaps the front clip? Or maybe the passenger side fender. Im sure i can do the belt job. Just dont want to do more work than needed, like I dont want to fight with it all day just to find out I needed to pull the motor in the beginning. Thanks in advanceHow bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent? You don't really have to pull the engine out. It is a SOHC engine and it doesn't look that bad. It is a perfect engine to start with as a beginner. I started like everybody from scratch and now I know more than back then. I would advise you to either buy a technical manual for this car or get someone to supervise you (just in case) otherwise, should something come up you might be in for the whole day if not longer. The timing belt is located on the pass side towards the right front wheel. You have a lot of component to remove before you get to it including the engine mount. To remove the mount you have to somehow suspend the engine or support it on a jack (do not put the jack on the oil pan, find a solid point to support the power train). Also, it is important to mark the belt and line - up the top with the bottom of the engine. You have to find the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Lining-up the engine has to start from TDC point.

Overhaul, not an easy job but at the same token its something that could be accomplished (with a little supervision).

Good luck and have fun.How bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?Replacing the belt is no more difficult then on most cars. Now, getting at the thing, that's the fun part. All the belts and brackets have to come off the front of the engine and the balancer has to be removed. Then you have to support the front of the engine (passenger side) and remove the motor mount. Get a Haynes manual. It will give you some idea of what your up against. I would also recommend you replace the water pump and the idler pulleys while your in there. Once you start to dig in you will understand why I say that. You don't want to have to do that job in between belt replacements.

Good LuckHow bad is it to change the timing belt on a 1999 hyundai accent?timing belt is no easy matter, its a 3 hour job atleast for a well tuned mechanic. get a mechanic to do it for you. one **** up and your done. i know i did this to my eclipse.

How do i change the timming belt on a 91 fored ranger?

Found out the timing belt broke so we pulled the cover off and had a hard time getting the rest of the belt out.Do you have to pull any pulleys off or anything of that sort? How do i change the timming belt on a 91 fored ranger? When a timing belt breaks it normally takes out a valve or 2 from hitting the piston when it broke. And this is more involved than anyone could tell you on here. You can't even spell simple English words correctly. Let alone the timing belt of your car.How do i change the timming belt on a 91 fored ranger?I am assuming that your Ranger has the 2.3 4 cyl. engine in it, correct?

You will need to remove the crankshaft pulley in order to remove the belt cover.

Best thing to do is to buy a repair manual for this truck, and to follow the timing belt replacement procedure EXACTLY as the book describes.

I believe that the 2.3 is a non-interference design engine, meaning you may of not bent any intake/exhaust valves, Good Luck

How do I change the alternator belt in an 87 Suburban?

The old one snapped while driving. Will I need a belt tensioner? It shouldn't be too hard, but I can't figure out what I need to loosen to get the new one on. Will I need to remove the fan belt to get the alternator belt on? Any advice would be really helpful. How do I change the alternator belt in an 87 Suburban?I get a kick out of these kids who think that every vehicle ever made has one single Serpentine belt. They probably couldn't adjust a set of points if they were stranded in the Yukon and their life depended on it.

You will need to remove any belts that are mounted in front of the Alternator belt. As far as the Alternator, those are easy. There are 2 bolts holding it in, one short one, and one long one, The long one is the one the Alternator pivots on. The short one keeps it from pivoting by locking it in place, although both should be tightened when you are done. Just loosen both, and push the Alternator towards the engine.

You probably have at least a Power Steering belt in front, and usually if you have Air Conditioning, that will be in the back on yours, if I remember correctly. Either of those are usually a little more complicated, as they have more than 2 bolts you have to loosen. The Power Steering has one on the back (a nut actually) that a lot of people don't notice.

    Here are some pictures that might help;

    http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/gif/m

    http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/gif/m

Notice that the Power Steering has 3 bolts right in front of the pump, but those hold the pump to the bracket, so leave those alone. You want to loosen the 2 nuts/bolts towards the engine side, that hold the bracket to the engine, and the one in back, and move the pump and front bracket at the same time. The back bracket doesn't move like the front one does.

To get the belt off all the way, you will have to get it over the fan, which is easiest if you start on one side of the fan, and work your way towards the other side of the fan, one blade at a time. Put the new belts back over the fan the same way, except in reverse.

Once you get all the belts in place and on the pulleys, you need to move the device back away from the engine to tighten the belt. Be careful with the Power Steering especially, when using a pry bar, as the outside is the fluid reservoir. That bends easily, and can cause a leak if you do bend it.

Once you get the belt tight enough, tighten one of the lockdown bolts, which are mounted over a slot. Then tighten the rest, including the pivot bolts. Start the engine up, making sure that no one else is standing by the front of the car, and make sure they're still on and tight after you shut the engine off.How do I change the alternator belt in an 87 Suburban? You don't need to loosen anything. There should be a drawing of the belt route on the fan shrout. It should have picture of where the belt go. All you need is 3/4%26quot; socket and a long breaker bar.

    1. You route all the belt to all the parts it is suppose to, power steering, a/c, alternator, main pulley, smog pump and of course the tensioner is last.

    2. You stick the socket on the tensioner bolt and pull onto it while placing the belt over the tensioner.

Once the belt is on the tensioner, you are done! Making sure the belt go onto the other part properly. You can then start the engine. How do I change the alternator belt in an 87 Suburban?you only need a new belt tensioner if the old one has no tension on it or it vibrates too much when the engine is running, you will need either a 3/8 or 1/2 breaker bar, the tensioner arm will have a square hole to place the bar socket into, use the bar as a lever to slide the new belt in.

I'm guessing that's why the drum won't spin. How difficult is it to change the belt on a gas dryer?Figuring out how to get to the belt is usually more difficult than fixing the belt. I've done it a couple of times on our old Kenmore gas dryer. How difficult is it to change the belt on a gas dryer? Some are easier than others. You have to take the front of the dryer off to get the new belt around the drum.. The fun part is weaving the belt around the pullys properly. One pullly is spring loaded to tension the belt and if the spring comes loose the belt will slip.It is kind of a wrestling match. Remove the clutch cover. On the secondary clutch (larger one of the two) push the inner sheave inwards. You may need to twist it as you push in as the inner slide buttons work on three helix ramps. You will see that the drive belt can easily pulled out of the secondary clutch. This mechanism works exactly as a Polaris Snowmobile clutching set-up.

Is it possible to change something that is driven by a belt to being driven by a chain?

I have a gas scooter it is driven by a belt. The problem with this is the belt keeps breaking and I檓 wondering if I can change it so that it is driven by a chain. Would this be expensive? What tools would I need? Would it be difficult to do?Is it possible to change something that is driven by a belt to being driven by a chain?you could put sprokets on the motor and the drive.Probably only need a socket set, and a chain cutter and a master link.

this stuff does add up quick though. The sprokets you get should be close to the same size as the pulley is now, also you would need to make sure the shaft diameters on the motor and the drive are the same on your sproket. Take it to a local bike shop and tell them what you want to do I'm sure they can help,Is it possible to change something that is driven by a belt to being driven by a chain?Tell MAKE%26lt; MODEL %26lt; YEAR . If you have a variable belt drive you are looking at a big project- will probably end up with single speed, low speed afterwards. A centrifugal clutch and single speed chain drive is probably possible- but you'll only do 20mph instead of 30. Or is this a toy scooter with single speed to begin with?Is it possible to change something that is driven by a belt to being driven by a chain?Yes it can be. But you either have lot of tools and skills (and you would not be asking) or get it done custom.

So it would be cheaper for you to sell your scooter and buy another with chain drive.

How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King?

I got the swing arm off, and the primary cases opened and then I stopped.. But now Im at a loss, Is there any special tools need? How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King?Just to add to Andy and Just Me's answers....YES there are SPECIAL tools required!!!!.....

You will need a special DEEEEPPPP sockets to remove the sprocket nut, an 1-1/2%26quot; impact socket to remove the compensator nut and an 1-1/4 socket to remove the clutch hub nut.

You NEED a....FACTORY.... service manual to get the torque specs and special procedures needed to reinstall the rubber swingarm isolators and PROPER clutch/cable, primary chain adjustments, belt tension, axle alignment %26amp; torque...etc.

EDIT:....I got busy earlier and neglected to mention this....Front pulley removal is NOT REQUIRED for a belt change...BUT...as a PRECAUTION....I ALWAYS replace ALL seals on the primary and trans including the sprocket spacer quad seal o-ring, while the primary is removed....it would really suck to develop a leak a few months from now and have to pull the primary off again to replace the seals......All fresh seals is cheap insurance. How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King? The clutch pack, primary and inner primary cover have to come off to get to the pulley. You should really get a service manual so you don't mess things up.You really need torque specs(very important!) for tightening everything back down. For sure you'll need torque wrenches in both foot and inch pounds.A belt tension guage is handy too to set the proper play in the new belt. How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King?remove the clutch ( left hand threads ), compensator ( right hand threads ), and inner primary and you'll have access to the front pulley to put your belt on. Upon reassembly, you'll need torque specs and in the case of your primary bolt, a torque procedure that if you don't follow, will lead to your engine sounding like it's got a rod knock due to loss of clamp load and if not taken care of, will lead to internal damage. The money you're saving by doing this yourself go buy a manual and you'll still be ahead of what a dealership will charge and all your questions will be answered. Oh, and spend the money on a factory HD manual for your bike. The aftermarket manuals are junk.

Edit: No need to remove the front pulley for belt replacement. Also, take care to not bend, crease, or tweak the belt too much as it CAN damage the belt internally. How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King?Just to add my 2 cents worth, I recently did this.

The engine comp sprocket nut is torqued to about 180 ft/lbs of torque, with red Loctite!

You'll probably need an impact wrench to hammer it off.

Also, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and unbolt the starter motor from the backside.

It LOOKS like it's bolted to the transmission, but the bolts pass through, and thread into the inner primary cover. How do you change the belt on a 2006 Road King?you put it on.

How do I change a belt on a GE Dryer?

I've looked at the expanded diagrams of this model and can't figure out how to get access to get the belt around the drum. Does anyone have any detailed instructions for getting the belt around the drum on this model?

    Model GE DBXR453GV0WW

    Thanks much!

ModelHow do I change a belt on a GE Dryer?Usually access is from the front panel, other panels may have to be removed before getting the front off. The important thing is to remember how everything is put back together. Get a dish and put all screws and bolts in it so none are lost. Another vital detail is to get the belt around the drum, There will be a raised ridge or depression in the drum that the belt mates to. After this is done, rotate the drum by hand to seat and sink the belt into place, if it falls off do it again. And unplug it first too.

How do I change the timing belt on my 1990 Honda Civic?

Any experts? I'm good with cars but, I have never changed a timing belt?

Can you explain in detail how to do it?

thanksHow do I change the timing belt on my 1990 Honda Civic?1) get some 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, sockets and wrenches. and a 1/16%26quot; allen wrench, small bench vice.

    2) disconnect battery + and tape a rag on it.

2.1) remove power steering pump and set aside. this can usually be done without disconnecting lines.

    2.2) remove alternator.

    3) turn engine with socket on crank (17mm or 19mm) until timing marks are t.d.c.

    4) remove timing cover (10mm socket) needed for this should be 8 or 10 small bolts.

    5) dont forget the 2 at the oil pan connection below (12mm socket)remove crank pulleys (17mm socket)

    6) once covers are off locate tensioner and insert 1/16%26quot; allen wrench in hole on side of tensioner this will save lots of grief later. and then remove. (12mm socket)

    7) on the valve sprockets there will be a dimple that you line up with a notch on top of cyl head usually at 12:00 position.

    8) remove timing belt.

    9) reverse order to re assemble.

    10) oh darn the allen wrench wont fit because belt is too streched or broken! (no worries, compress in small vise and put allen wrench in make sure that you put it in the correct side or you'll have a problem when you go to remove it after the new belt is on)

    11) just for future reference get yourself a Clymers auto manual. about $20 but worth it.

    12) also i'd replace your water pump while you have it apart because that is a pain to get to.

When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?

I have a 2002 honda civic with 85k miles %26amp; the dealer says the timing belt should be replaced. But with the water pump %26amp; timing belt tensioner also have to be replaced???When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump? The timing belt drives the water pump in your car. To replace the water pump, you have to remove the timing belt. When you are having the timing belt replaced, it makes sense to also replace the water pump. There is very little additional labor to do so, as the timing belt is already removed.

You do not have to do so, but if you do not, and the water pump subsequently fails, you will be paying the full labor charge to replace it rather than just the cost of the part.

As to the belt tensioner, I would replace that because it is a wear item, and if it fails it can cause a timing belt failure. If you are going to risk the timing belt failing (and causing major damage to the engine) you might as well not have the belt replaced.

I would never replace a timing belt without also replacing the water pump and tensioner. It is false economy to do so.When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?mine just broke 2 weeks ago...and yes the water pump SHOULD be replaced also. well worth the money to have them do it all at once or youll be sorry when you have to go backWhen you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?Effectively no...the timing belt is by itself and does not drive the water pump. The belt tensioner may or may not need replacing, depending on how much it is worn...When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?Much easier to do when you do the timing belt, better to do preventative maintenance while the timing belt is taken off. When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump? The engine in your car makes the difference the 1.7 has a water pump driven by the timing belt and the 2.0 has an external water pump driven by the serpentine belt so find out what you have but if it is the 1.7 just do it.When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?I agree with the dealer. It may sound like he is trying to jack up the job but in fact it will save you money and grief in the long run.

Getting to those parts is so labor intensive that if you have to go back in later to change the pump or tensioner pulleys it will cost you the same as it did to have the belt changed. The other thing if the pump starts leaking on a new belt you will have to have it replaced again.

Whenever I do a timing belt I change everything that is in there. Then I don't have to worry about it.When you change the timing belt do you also have to change the water pump?Just did this myself. You should replace the belt and water pump at the same time. The water pump is not a durable device, the pump seal will eventually start to leak. Getting your timing belt wet is a sure way to lead to a catastrophic engine failure.

I replaced the belt tensioner as well. It's good insurance and since you're already in the engine, the added cost is small and the potential for failure moderate.

This is not a job for an average DIY'r, I have a full shop and many years of experience and still had a hard time doing the job. I suggest you get it done by a pro.

Is this normal when a belt breaks while the engine is running ?How do you change the serpintine belt on a 1998 oldsmobile cutlass ?Under your hood there should be a diagram showing how the belt is routed around all of the pulleys. There will also be an arrow telling which way you'll need to twist the tensioner to remove and install the belt, it is a fairly simple process.

    Loosen Tensioner

    Remove belt

    install new belt

    Tighten tensioner

Be sure not to drive the car without the belt because you won't have power steering or the pump circulating water to cool the engine (resulting in overheating). The power steering fluid being spewed out is abnormal, you'll need to refill this because some cars use the pressurized steering fluid to assist the brake system. Your local auto parts store should also be more than happy to print out the diagram for how to install the belt.

I do not see any screws or latches to let the bottom plate be removed or swivel out of the way to get at the belt and motor...I have a eureka the boss lite upright baged vacuum. How do you change the belt?I have a Eureka vacuum, but I can simply turn the vacuum over, remove the beater bar and replace the belt (which is round). I had a Eureka Worldvac (which has a flat belt) and it was impossible to change the belt! I had to take it into a shop and PAY to have someone do it for me. The top of the machine had to be removed, and once I removed it, I couldn't get the stupid thing back on! If all else fails, call a vacuum repair shop and ask them what you should do.I have a eureka the boss lite upright baged vacuum. How do you change the belt?I have had Eurekas for years; (we cleaned display homes) most of them you just snap off (or take screws out) of that flat thing on the bottom that covers the brush. Pull the roller brush our put on a new belt and reverse the process. One side of the roller brush is made to pull out, and the other is complete round. so be sure and pull out the open one first.

i know theres a bolt somewher eto be loosened so u can move the belt, but where? what size is it?How to change alternator belt in 96 integra ls?Do you have your manual its in there. How to change alternator belt in 96 integra ls?Loosen the alternator mounting bolts then you should be able release the tension on the belt by turning a long bolt. The long bolt swings out the alternator increasing the tension on the belt. You don't need to take any of the bolts completely off just enough to be able to remove the belt. Installation would be in the reverse order. Not sure the size, most Acura/Honda bolts are 10mm, 12mm 14mm 19mm 17mm

The dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon?

My car has 38000 miles. Will it be time to change this accessory belt or the dealer is just pressuring me on this to purchase the belt.thanksThe dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon?Even with low k's, the belt could show signs of deterioration (3 yrs old) , small little cracks in the rubber belt. It's preventative maintenance to change it. If it breaks you lose accessories like alternator, power steering, a/c. You should get a second opinion. You can also purchase the belt at an auto supply shop (a bit cheaper) and keep it in the car until its needed. To get all the life you can out of your old belt. Or change it and keep the old as a emergency spare. The dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon? For reference, I too have a 2005 hyundai elantra and know that the interval to inspect the belts including the accessory and timing belts are 30k and 60k. That said, if it has been inspected and deemed necessary to replace, what are the chances they will replace it under warranty if it breaks a month later without you heeding their advice: thought so. Although you have lower mileage than is typical on a car of your age, you prob have had the car 3-4 years, which is plenty of winter seasons for the rubber belts to deteriorate (they still deteriorate/ crack even if you drive them less). I don't think they're pressuring you to do anything but good preventative maintenance. The accessory belt should be $80 at a hyundai dealer with some labor charges (maybe a few hundred). Ask them to show you the old belt when your done to see what kind of wear was on it for reference and to prove they replaced it.

Also, at 60k, you WILL need to change the timing belt to uphold the warranty since it is even more essential than the accessory belt. my trip to the hyundai dealer cost $422 for the timing belt change and $80 for the accessory belt since they did it at the same time as the timing belt and it had no additional labor fees. My car is exactly as old as yours (57k) and the dealer tech suggested changing both the accessory belt due to deterioration and timing belt (though the timing belt is hard to check condition unless you go in and change it outright and is just changed based on mileage). good luck. The dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon?It is a very important belt that goes around your water pump and alternator. The first poster is confused with the timing belt i believe. If you do not replace it you could have a failure while driving and if that damages other components warranty will not cover them. I recommend spending the money and getting it done. If you find the dealer is to much money check with another shop as anyone can do this work. The dealership of my hyundai elantra model 2005 said that I need to change my accessory belt soon?38,000 miles is way to soon. You have to change it every 100,000 miles. If something happens to it before, your car is still on warranty i assume. It is possible he saw a problem with it and is trying to convince you to change it rather then having them do it? In that case warranty should still replace it.

Should i change the water pump with the timing belt?

i have changed my timing belt last week with all the tensioners but not the water pump.

my car has done 32000 mile and it is 5 years old (renault megane 2003 1.6)

the belt on this car should be changed each 72000 miles or 5 year and i decide to change it because it was due .

would u think that water pump would still work or soon it will become faulty?Should i change the water pump with the timing belt?Well, if you have the money go ahead...I am sure the pump would be a bit easier to replace with the belt off...but honestly there is no need. The water pump should easily last over 100,000 miles if you keep your antifreeze clean and you will be due for a new belt when the pump goes out anyway. Good luck with the belt change and have a good one!Should i change the water pump with the timing belt?change it just to be safeShould i change the water pump with the timing belt?If you are already going to have it tore down that far, you might as well while you are at it. Otherwise, you'll have to strip the thing down to change it later.Should i change the water pump with the timing belt?water pumps usually last for awhile 85,000 plus.. i have a 99 accord with 155,000 and still on the same factory water pump with no problems but then again i usually put about 600 miles a month

I have a 1998 Polo 1.4 and have just reached 72,000 miles. There is nothing in the book about changing the cam belt. Does anyone know when it should be changed? ;o)Does anyone know when is the best time to change the cam belt on a 1998 VW Polo 1.4?GENERAL RULE If in doubt change it.Cheaper than engine repairs.

However, with most petrol engines, piston misses valves when belt breaks, therefore no damage, only inconvenience because they only break at the worst possible moment.Does anyone know when is the best time to change the cam belt on a 1998 VW Polo 1.4?i suggest you change it as soon as possible as if your cam belt goes theres a chance of your enjoying blowing up so change it asapDoes anyone know when is the best time to change the cam belt on a 1998 VW Polo 1.4?You want to do it before it breaks on you.Does anyone know when is the best time to change the cam belt on a 1998 VW Polo 1.4?every 60,000 miles. if it breaks, say good by to the motor.no is the timeDoes anyone know when is the best time to change the cam belt on a 1998 VW Polo 1.4?As someone else said, Before it breaks! If you don't know then 60,000 OR 5 years would be a good choice. Remember to change any tensioner rollers at the same time as they have a life as well. If the belt fails it will either be at start-up when it's unsticking a cold engine (inconvenience but not too much damage) or on the motorway (More inconvenience and much damage!)

How do i know when to change the timing belt?

i have an Acura 3.2 TL, when i bought it, it has 90 000 km on it. Now it has 217 000 km. I never did the timing belt before. Do i have to do it? or did the previous owner already changed it already? How do i know when to change the timing belt?On most overhead cam engines if the belt breaks it will do major damage to the engine because the valves will hit the pistons. Check the owners manuel for the recomended times to change. When in doubt change it anyway, it will be a lot cheaper than a new engine.

If you are mechanically inclined get a repair manuel and change it yourself. Check the timing belt idler for wear, if it goes out it will ruin the belt. On most engines there are other parts that you may want to replace at the same time because of the labor involved in getting to them. (other belts, water pumps, hoses., ect)How do i know when to change the timing belt?Either done or not done... You are do..

Any time from 90,000 and on is Roulette..( changed or not changed)

I'd do it....How do i know when to change the timing belt?some engines have a timng belt cover or covers that you can remove and visually inspect the belt. some covers are a pain to remove thoHow do i know when to change the timing belt?i would say your over do. better change it now or you will be looking at some big bucks later.

How do I change a belt on my hoover u5076-930 vacuum cleaner?

I'm trying to take the cover off the vacuum to clean the motor. Any ideas how I can do this myself without going to the local vacuum technician??How do I change a belt on my hoover u5076-930 vacuum cleaner?Unplug the machine and flip it over so you can access the agitator brush. (Image 1)

    2. Unscrew the bottom plate that holds the brush in place, using a screwdriver.

    3. Lift out the brush by pulling the roller ends out of the slots in the vacuum base. If the drive belt isn't completely broken, one end will be wrapped around the agitator brush, the other around the motor drive shaft. Slide the belt off of each part. Take it to a hardware store to get a replacement.

    4. Inspect the agitator brush before installing the new belt. Sometimes thread or hair will wrap around the ends or elsewhere on the brush roller. This can prevent the agitator from turning and cause a belt to fail prematurely. Cut any thread or hair with a sharp knife and pull it off.

    5. Install the new belt. Slide one end over the agitator brush and the other over the drive shaft. Then reinstall the agitator brush. You may have to pull on the agitator brush to stretch the new belt a bit so the roller ends fit into the vacuum base.

    6. Reinstall the bottom plate. How do I change a belt on my hoover u5076-930 vacuum cleaner?see if you can find any pertinent information in here:

How hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer?

I have a Crosley electric dryer and recently its been making a rumbling sound, I think the belt might be getting off track and was wondering if it could be realigned or if it should be replaced, and how difficult of a task it would beHow hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer? If you have some basic common sense about yourself and a level of confidence, you can take it apart and change the belt. Some dryers have a front cover that can be removed and some have a back cover. The belt is usually very long and it's not as durable as one might think. Overloading a dryer can strain this belt. The belt goes completely around the dryer drum and through the motor pulley. If you go slow and easy at R %26amp; R and if you have the new belt in hand, you can take it apart, put the new belt on and put it back together in about an hour or so.

Be sure to unplug the dryer. How hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer?probably needs replaced, not difficult but time consuming. How hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer? It's fairly easy. Dryers are not very complicated and I have replaced belts and thermal switches in these. There are a couple of parts that could cause it to sound rough though apart from the belt. There is an idler pully that holds the belt tight around the drum and a seal around the edge of the drum.

Toughest part really is getting it back together with everything aligned. Find the web site for the brand, lookup the model and see if you can download a manual. You are going to need part information anyway. Good luck. How hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer? It is not difficult, in general, but depends on brand. Normally, you'll have to pull off some panels to get to it. It may also be the rollers or idler wheel. See a link below for some general how-to (for a different brand, but should be quite similar)How hard is it to change a belt on an electric dryer?rich g's answer is good, and like he said there could be other causes for the rumble that you are hearing. the idler or tension pulley could be bad, the drum support rollers could also be shot, and that goes for any glides that support the drum opening too. some companies, whirlpool for example, make dryer noise repair kits that contain all of the parts that will need to be replaced to fix the problem. these kits will cost less than buying the parts individually and come with instructions on how to do the repairs with pictures of the procedures. check with an appliance parts store near you, or one of the websites for your crosley. good luck, hope this helps.

  • 02 Reg 1L Vauxhall Corsa Club,58,000 mileage - Timing Belt change?

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could advise me on when the timing belt needs changing on this model of car? Is it a chain timing belt and if so should it be changed after a certain milage or age?

Thanks02 Reg 1L Vauxhall Corsa Club,58,000 mileage - Timing Belt change? The timing belt in a Corsa is not a belt at all and is known as a timing chain as it is a chain and not a belt (funny enough!). I drive an 01 Reg 1.2L Vauxhall Corsa with 102,000 miles on the clock and the chain hasn't been changed once. As far as I'm aware the chain is supposed to last the life of your engine. Although like most mechanical things wear and tear can sometimes play their part. But for the majority of owners they will never need to change their timing belt. Also heres a tip that might save you money. If your Engine management light comes on you dont need a computer for the fault code.

Most of Vauxhall dealers don檛 know about this....

Want to read the Code well first

Take a deep breath get your car keys and get a pen and paper

When you get into the car you know the key has 3 clicks first on for whatever it is second the dash comes on third the starter kicks in

before you put the key into the ignition Make sure that you Press the Break and the Throttle to the Floor ( max

Then turn the key on until The dash board come on and DONT START THE CAR

Wait 2 sec and keep the pedals Down to the floor

the service light under the management light should start flashing

it will flash 4 times leaving 2 second space representing each number

    Zero gets 10 flashes

    for exampleP0110

the light will flash ten times Break (2sec Or 1 not sure) then once, (2sec) once again, then ten

if you have more than one code it will stop for a break then gives the next code

its not a very useful way but helps when you dont want to go to the dealer for a lose socket

this is for Corsa C the Newer models have even better way to tell you the code i think which is on your Mileage Display It will show ECN0 XXXX

which is error code Number forget the zero and the last four digits is what you want

and this works for an astra Too

ive tested this on my own corsa and worked Very well

however if you don檛 have any code stored it will start Flashing and keeps on flashing until you release the paddles.

Codes can be found here at

Can I change my own timing belt?

1999 acent hyundia, going to need its 60K timing belt change, should I attemp it my self or big truoble if I do it wrongCan I change my own timing belt?Attempt it yourself if you know what you are doing. Setting timing on newer cars isn't like it used to be.

Use a bright coloured marker to line up the cam wheel at TDC, and ensure it remains there when you replace the belt.

If the belt is so much as one tooth out, the car will run like a pig, and God forbid, if the belt slips or snaps, you'll bend your valves, and buddy, then you are looking at big $$.

I'm pretty mechanically savvy, but I wouldn't attempt it. I'd rather spend a couple hundred now, than over a grand if i screw it up.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Good luck with it.Can I change my own timing belt?big trouble,Can I change my own timing belt?Remember time is money. If you have all the tools. Check it out in the book first. Can I change my own timing belt?nope u cnt unless ur a mechanicCan I change my own timing belt?If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself with a repair manual from your local auto parts store. If you have no idea what you are doing....DON'T!!! You can harm your engine by timing the pistons and valves incorrectly!!!!!!!! Be careful! Can I change my own timing belt?Do you have any idea what you are getting into...looks easy when you see the mechanic doing it but believe me you dont try it if you dont want to mess your car up and end up having to get professional helpCan I change my own timing belt?No its not recomended. Because its such a tightly compressed engine a professional should change it. And it really should be done every 60k on the import cars because if you dont and the timing belt does go out you have one huge paperweight on yer hands. And it needs to be done. I have talked to many people who let it go and thats happened to.

Do you have to remove the engine to change a timing belt on a 2000 toyota tacoma?

I was told that Tocoma timing belts had to be changed around 90k before they broke, damaging the engine. Is this even true? And how much trouble is it to do it yourself given mechanic experience?Do you have to remove the engine to change a timing belt on a 2000 toyota tacoma?DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF. Seriously, I think your Tocoma should have the 3.4 liter V6, which I have in my 2002 4Runner. Its a big production to do it. I had it done at the dealer. Good plan, right? Guess what - After driving about 150 miles, it fell off! They didn't tighten the crank shaft properly (those were the words of the mechanic I took it too near where it died, as well as the dealer, after they checked it out). Well, too bad for the dealer, they had to come pick it up (140 miles door to door each way for them) and then they did have to yank the engine out to fix the mess.

Its an expensive service at the dealer (about $500, if I remember correctly), but you can probably get your local mechanic to do it for less.Do you have to remove the engine to change a timing belt on a 2000 toyota tacoma?I have changed the timing belt on a 91 Toyota Camry, we didn't have to remove the engine but it was a big mess. You can order or buy the book at parts stores such as O'Reiley's or AutoZone, the book will tell you.

If you have the maintenence book, it's step by step. I had never changed one before, but I did it with the book, and a little help from family members. I think it is true about damaging the engine. IF you can't afford the labor for the fix (which IS expensive), buy the book for $15 and do it yourself :)

How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?

how do you know its time to change a timing belt on a 2006 Suzuki forenza with 34 miles on it???? What are the signs that its time for a new timing beltHow do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?There are no warning signs. Just follow this advice from Suzuki:

The Suzuki Forenza Maintenance Schedule suggests inspecting it at 30,000 mile intervals and replacing it at 60,000 mile intervals.

This car has an interference engine. That means that if the timing belt breaks the engine will suffer severe internal damage and will likely have to be replaced. Replacing the timing belt is rather expensive, but doing so may save you an engine.....

You are not only supposed to check it at 30,000, but it may need to be adjusted. The belt can get loose after it has stretched and it needs to be tightened back up.How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?It needs to be looked at 30,000 miles and replace at 60,000 miles. Your other belt that runs the fan,AC,and other things should be replace at the same time as they have to take it off to replace the timing belt and could save your some labor costs. Cracked, chiped,or some loose treads are a good sign but not always. A good mechic can tell you if its is time and you are looking at a few hundred bucks to have it done. If you have only 34 miles on your car for a 06 then you got a good deal then. How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?There are no signs. It just goes in a second. I'm pretty sure you have an 'interference' type engine. Most people do. That means when the timing belt fails, the engine will have major damage and may need replacement.

Every car owner lives with this so don't get too excited. Look in your car manual and be sure the timing belt is replaced exactly at the mileage stated. Not sooner and not later. Also have the water pump and belts replaced at the same time. That's done because they need replacement around the same time as the timing belt and it's cheaper to get the extras done while they have things apart. How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?Check your owners manual. Sometimes a busted timing belt can damage valves. My 03 neon is 84 months or around 100,000 miles. 30,000 is not right for any car. That's way too soon. My mechanic looked up info on my car.How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?Timing belts are to be replaced every 30,000 miles to keep the valve train working right. How do you know its time to change a timing belt on a suzuki forenza 2006?it will tell you in your service guide and handbook, if not, research on google or wikpedia, engines vary and range from 30,000 to 78,000.

Timing belt change on 1997 Honda Accord?

My friend wants to have te timing belt changed on his 907 onda Accord. How difficult a job is this in terms of accessing the belt?Timing belt change on 1997 Honda Accord?there should be a timing cover on where the crank is(usually plastic cover)just take it off and there it is.Timing belt change on 1997 Honda Accord?i own a shop, and getting to the belt isn't too bad of job,but bad enough, the hardest part of though is keeping the top pulley from moving, when you remove the old belt,it will usually jump a notch or two forwards,so on this part of it it may take two people, other than that if you have a good Haynes repair manual on this car,you can do this,it gives all the details on what all has to be done, just take your time with it,that's the key to doing a good job on it,good luck i hope this helps.Timing belt change on 1997 Honda Accord?Seriously, don't mess with the timing unless you are a trained mechanic. You could end up costing yourself a lot of money.Timing belt change on 1997 Honda Accord? You should have some pretty solid mechanical abilities. I took mine to a shop and had it replaced prior to the mileage reaching 100,000. It cost $300.00, but that also included a couple hoses that need replacing. Well worth it, if your timing belt goes out on you while you are driving, you pretty much are putting in a new motor because, the innards of the motor keep turning until the motor stops, causing warped valves and rod issues.

Ask the guys that told you when to change it.When to change cam belt on Honda Accord (W Reg 2000) model?http://honda.justanswer.com/?r=gacar%26amp;JCRWhen to change cam belt on Honda Accord (W Reg 2000) model?I would believe the owners manual and do it at 60k at the latest but personally I would have done it at 50-55k just to be on the safe side.

Where can i find a belt that will allow me to change buckles?

I'm looking for a leather belt that will allow me to change buckles. Everything I have or have seen is riveted or sewn together and won't let me change buckles.Where can i find a belt that will allow me to change buckles?walmart.Where can i find a belt that will allow me to change buckles?A men's clothing store

or WalmartWhere can i find a belt that will allow me to change buckles? It's not likely that you will find them easily. Those belts are pretty much a thing of the past, since those greedy belt companies want you to buy the whole belt and not just one...

I know how you feel, though, I had an assortment of cool belt buckles back in highschool and what I did was carefully pop the rivets out and then used a safety pin to close it. My belt buckles all covered the pin on that particular belt, so it was not an issue.

Now, I am not recommending you do this, as it is a bit tacky, but depending on your style, you may use a similar method. However, if you can not find anything at a nice men's store like the men's wearhouse or a department store like Macy's or JCPenney, what I would do is go to Walmart (or your local fabric/craft store) and look for a tool (it looks like a hole punch) to put snaps on things, select a belt with rivets slightly smaller than the snaps you have, and carefully pry the rivets out, or cut around them with an exacto knife if you have big enough snaps. Then you can just pop the snaps in the old rivet holes, and unsnap the belt to swap buckles.

You may want to check out the fabric stores, especially larger ones like JOANN's, they might have a belt kit or something that you could use.

    Good luck!

Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?

I got my oil changed today, and the guy told me I need a new serpentine belt and I need new antifreeze. I can only afford to get one thing at a time. What is more important? Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?I don't know what the temp. is where you are but with it being winter I would go with antifreeze first. A serpentine belt will run a long time even if it has cracks in it. if it brake's your are stopped in your tracks. but no major damage.

if the block cracks from freezing it will cost a lot to fix you car.but you can get an antifreeze tester at an auto parts store to see what temp. your antifreeze is good for. to help choose you option.

    to check you antifreeze

    1. make sure you car is cold

    2. take off the radiator cap

use the antifreeze tester to check you antifreezeIs it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt? You can buy anti-freeze and do it yourself. If the coolant that is in it looks nasty, then you might want to drain it, flush it out, and then fill it with new coolant. Either get pre-mixed (water/coolant) or buy 100% coolant and mix it yourself (never run 100% coolant by itself, and NEVER run just water).

As far as the serpentine belt, if you are mechanically inclined, it usually isn't that difficult - there will be a tensioner that you have to figure out how to release, and the belt just comes off (you might have to remove some stuff to get to it though).

I usually just wait for belts like that to fail (in most cases the belt doesn't fail - it will be the tensioner, or one of the accessories that will fail, and take the belt with it.

If you don't want to mess with it, call around and get quotes. Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?Serpentine Belt - If this fails, you may lose power steering, charging system, and air conditioning. The engine may overheat, become hard to steer and the battery will eventually go dead. A broken serpentine belt can also cause the timing belt to jump and do internal engine damage.

Engine Coolant (Antifreeze) - Coolant loses it's ability to protect the engine against corrosion and freezing. It should be replaced every 30,000 miles or so, depending on the type of coolant. It's unlikely the coolant will %26quot;fail%26quot;, it just offers less protection.

My recommendation is to have the shop tell you which is more urgent. There are different levels severity when it comes to a part needing replacement. I use the 1-5 system, 1 = needs replacement now, may fail very soon! 5 = brand new part! Have them tell you the severity of the condition. A good shop will prioritize this for you, if they wont, consider a second opinion. Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?Changing the antifreeze in your cooling system is a good idea and will promote longer life of your engine. You should try to have this done (with a flush) every couple of years.

However, if the mechanic told you your serpentine belt needs replacing, you should give that priority. If this belt is cracked and/or badly worn and ends up breaking, you will be stuck towing your car to a garage. This will mean more expense and probable inconvenience. If you trust that this mechanic told you the truth (or you looked and the belt looks bad), I would definitely do that one first! Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt? You probably don't need either. They make their money by ripping off the public.

How long has the belt/antifreeze been in the car?

If longer than a few years, get the antifreeze changed first b/c if it's bad you risk having the water freeze and the block cracking or the water pump being damaged. If the belt breaks at least you can drive it a mile or so afterwards. Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?Have you been adding water to your radiator? If not, I suspect it's okay. You can have it checked elsewhere ( it's only a specific gravity check). Anti freeze is now used all year and I never change mine. You might consider adding a can of antirust and water pump lubricant .Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?If the antifreeze is over 2 years old, I recommend having it changed before the serpentine belt. Buy a new serpentine belt for your car and if it breaks, you'll have it for the road repair service to replace on the road.Is it more important to change antifreeze or serpentine belt?Hi

You can buy anti freeze and put it in yourself

Cam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?

I have a 2001 Mondeo LX with 89000 miles on it

I don't know the cars history coz I only owned it for a few months

How do I know when to change the cam belt?

What r the symptoms if the change is due? are there any??

what is the price to change it?Cam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?Its not worth the risk, get the belt changed as soon as possible. The first symptom you will have is when it snaps.

I would also recomend that you have the water pump changed at the same time.

Typical price for the job will be 300 to 450.

Ja.Cam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?The best thing to do is check with the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. Some recommend every 30km,60km or even 100km.There is no way of telling when to change the timming belt.

Engines that are interference fit will be a disaster when this belt breaks.Cam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?Hi

If you pop the bonnet and the word DURATEC is emblazened on the engine cover then it has a timing chain and no attention is required.

Otherwise you need to have a full timing belt kit and a water pump fitted ASAP, unless you are in no doubt whatsoever that the mileage is genuine. I believe Ford recommend belt changes on the later models at around 100000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first, but you would need to supply the exact engine details to be sure.

    Very best regards

GeordieCam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?Change it as soon as you can. There's no real symptoms It shouldn't cost more than a 100 quid but if it goes it'll be a scrap job.Cam belt change on 2001 Mondeo LX?My advice to you is definately have it done if you don't know the history of the vehicle. It is quite expensive but a lot cheaper than a new engine. It could also reflect on how much you paid for the car because most people will sell cheaper at that mileage because of the expense, there are NO warning signs they just break %26amp; cause a lot of mess. I would also advise to have a full kit with bearings etc and also any other drive belts, and use a recommended retailer who will guarantee the work for loads more miles.

When should I have my Nissan Xterra timing belt changed and what else should I have done when they change it?

The same timing belt in California lasts 100,000 miles get it done before that the 3.3 liter engine is non interference valves hitting the pistons is interference on the older 3.0 liter. While your in there the water pump should be replaced three engine seals need to be done and any noisey bearings in the tensioner and idlers need also be replaced. And the thermostat and the three radatior hoses too. I highly reccomend that the technician also remove the radatior and wash the debris out of the cooling fins. Going back in after a leaky seal you will occur the same amount or most of the labor againWhen should I have my Nissan Xterra timing belt changed and what else should I have done when they change it?it is recommended to change the timing belt at 60,000 miles. At about 90,000 they will let loose and leave you sitting. When should I have my Nissan Xterra timing belt changed and what else should I have done when they change it?60k also do the tensioner and water pump. and the engine belts.....When should I have my Nissan Xterra timing belt changed and what else should I have done when they change it?At 60K you should replace the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and the cam seals and crank seal if any of them are seeping or leaking. You should also have a tune up, front and rear differential service, transfer case service, and transmission service performed, cooling system service performed, fuel injection flush performed, and if it has it..the in cabin microfilter replaced. It is expensive, but you only do it once every 60K

Belt change requirement for 2005 ducati monster?

can you tell me what the frequency is for cam belt changes on a 2005 monster? Both the mileage and the time intervals please ... i'm looking to buy one that has only done 600 miles since the service but it was nearly 3 years ago ... will it need doing straight away?Belt change requirement for 2005 ducati monster?they perish so new belts every two years regardless of mileage

so if the bike has been sat and not run for any length of time then it is highly likely that the teeth will strip from the belt.

un like other bikes the DUCATI is set up that once you've just touched the starter it spins the starter automatically and doesn't stop.

I've seen 2 year old DUCATI's where the bikes have been stood still for month on end EAT THEMSELVES !!! it is NOT a pretty sight. or sound... as in those fIFTEEN short seconds the belt snaps the valves stop open and the pistons driven by the crank and starter punch SH!T out of the valves and head.. Once PRESSED THERE IS NO STOPPING THE STARTER.. be warned!!!

2 x 35 plus an hours labour for new belts is cheaper than 1,400 for a complete engine rebuildBelt change requirement for 2005 ducati monster?2yrs or 10K which ever comes first is recommended interval but that seems very low to me.I check my belts as a normal part of regular maintenance. My bike is a 1987 Passo 750 and she has only had 3 sets of belts.
