I have a gas scooter it is driven by a belt. The problem with this is the belt keeps breaking and I檓 wondering if I can change it so that it is driven by a chain. Would this be expensive? What tools would I need? this stuff does add up quick though. The sprokets you get should be close to the same size as the pulley is now, also you would need to make sure the shaft diameters on the motor and the drive are the same on your sproket. If you have a variable belt drive you are looking at a big project- will probably end up with single speed, low speed afterwards. A centrifugal clutch and single speed chain drive is probably possible- but you'll only do 20mph instead of 30. But you either have lot of tools and skills (and you would not be asking) or get it done custom.
So it would be cheaper for you to sell your scooter and buy another with chain drive.
