I would also recomend that you have the water pump changed at the same time.

If you pop the bonnet and the word DURATEC is emblazened on the engine cover then it has a timing chain and no attention is required.
Otherwise you need to have a full timing belt kit and a water pump fitted ASAP, unless you are in no doubt whatsoever that the mileage is genuine. I believe Ford recommend belt changes on the later models at around 100000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first, but you would need to supply the exact engine details to be sure.

It is quite expensive but a lot cheaper than a new engine. It could also reflect on how much you paid for the car because most people will sell cheaper at that mileage because of the expense, there are NO warning signs they just break %26amp; cause a lot of mess. I would also advise to have a full kit with bearings etc and also any other drive belts,and use a recommended retailer who will guarantee the work for loads more miles.
